A day in Montpellier

Out all day today trying record more tunes from cool places.  Some days it seems like everythig is against me.  To much noise, crazy people on mopeds, trams going by and lets not forget the rain.  Had a few good takes but not good enough to post.

Friends

Whilst playing at Abbey Road we met a mother and daughter Rhian and Mary.  It was Mary's birthday and we were invited to her birthday party in Victoria.  We had a wonderful evening singing, playing music and eating amazing Irainian food.
10 year old Rhian is an amzing singer and blew us away!  Look for her on Britains Got Talent!!
Bev, Emma and I had to run for the last train home.  I think I will buy a mandolin as this banjo is getting really heavy!

A Day In London

Upon arriving at Victoria Station, Emma and I found our way to the underground and off to visit Abbey Road. The main line to St. John's Wood (Jubilee Line) was closed and it became a wild experience endeavoring through the underground; but we finally got the hang of it!

Upon finding Baker Street we unexpectedly passed 221B Baker Street "Go Sherlock."

Onward to Abbey Road!

When I was in the fifth grade and moving from Portland to Seattle, my classmates gave me the Abbey Road album as a going away gift.  It changed my life!! And Jim Morrison had a lot to do with that as well.

So here I am at the cross walk!!  Just had to do it.

Playing my banjo in front of Abbey Road Studios was a highlight!!  We met two very special people who showed us a great time.  More to come on that note.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!  Dan & Emma

Montpellier France

I arrived in Montpellier France!  The sun is out and it's a very pleasant.
The trip from the airport was a blast, the bus was packed with people and luggage everywhere.
Nothing like hauling 3 suite cases and a banjo from the plane to a bus then onto a tram..Huffing through the Center of Montpellier then up 5 flights of stairs to Emma's apartment..Now I know why everyone here is so fit!
Check out the pics.

We stopped at the store picked up some wine and amazing cheese.  Had a great night out with Emma, Lauren and Alex.

Thursday I'm meeting with my bluegrass friends to do a little jamming.. So much fun!

Sunday the 12th of January I'll be at "The Robin Hood" in Montpellier for the weekly open mic. Playing all original tunes.

Wednesday the 15th of January I will be a guest on a local radio show with friends Simon and Jonathan. Talking about the banjo, songwriting and "The Dan Project"   and of course picking a few tunes.  Sure hope you can join us.
I'll post the info when It's closer.  There will be a live feed and Podcast.

Thats all for now my friends...

Traveling up to London by train on a beautiful sunny day, looking out across the english countryside.  Dotted with beautiful old homes and rolling green fields that cry out for their
history to be told.
It spurred thoughts and song lyrics, I found myself writing as we moved effortlessly down the tracks.
